Reps charge TCN To Restore power supply in Yenagoa
The Capital of Bayelsa, Yenagoa has been in an electricity crisis, and with that, the Reps charged TCN to do something and resolve the power supply issues.
“Call to resuscitate the power transmission sub-station in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, was the motion adopted for this and is moved by member request Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency, Bayelsa State, Mr Obuku Oforji.
During the plenary session on Wednesday, Oforji noted that a fire incident on September 23, 2023, destroyed the 132/33KV transmission sub-station that serves Yenagoa and its surroundings, which resulted in a power blackout in the area leading the state have been struggling to use only a feeder to supply five feeders.
With this revelation he also added that the operational feeder is getting weak, stressing that “If urgent steps are not taken, the feeder will collapse.”
Aware that the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has been providing corrective services to prevent the weak operational feeder from collapsing, Speaker Abbas Tajudeen of the House, who is in charge of the House, urged TCN to act quickly “to prevent the complete collapse of power distribution and transmission in Yenagoa.”
