Ex-Arsenal and manchester united footballer Robin van Persie has acquired his first managerial role following installation as the new head coach for Dutch club SC Heerenveen.

The appointment was announced on Thursday on the club’s website.
The 40-year-old ex-Dutch striker had a great time at Feyenoord, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Fenerbahçe before his retirement in 2019.
Van Persie, also known as RVP, started his journey at Feyenoord as a specialist and youth coach, where he was a co-head coach for the Feyenoord U-18 side.
The left-footed striker, widely remembered as one of the best attackers at the Emirates Stadium in North London, informed his new club about his passion for the coaching profession and declared his commitment to building the club.
“The coaching profession is extensive and tough, and I execute it with great passion and pleasure. I would like to continue my evolution, and the role of head coach fits in nicely with that goal. I am, for that reason, pleased with the chance that SC Heerenveen presents me.
“SC Heerenveen is a very amazing Premier League club with a rich culture and faithful supporters. It’s a huge challenge to come up with the sporting aspirations and growth of the club as head coach,” he said.
At SC Heerenveen, Van Persie will meet “a former colleague with general manager Ferry de Haan. The two were peers when Feyenoord won the UEFA Cup in 2002,” facts on the club’s website read.
Van Persie will be bestowed at SC Heerenveen on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
