NCC Issues a Warning About Serious Penalties for Using Pre-Registered SIM Cards.
A severe warning regarding the risks involved in buying pre-registered SIM cards was sent out to Nigerians by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
In a statement, the Commission underscored the practice’s illegality as well as the serious repercussions for anyone who engages in it, including jail.
Those who use pre-registered SIM cards may unintentionally take part in some crimes, including financial fraud, kidnapping, armed robbery, and identity theft, according to the NCC.
It also taints consumer data when these SIM cards are used, which makes it more challenging for law enforcement to find and apprehend offenders.
The public was asked not to buy pre-registered SIM cards, and the Commission emphasized the need to follow the law to improve national security.
