Latest: Lagos’s NNPCL Apapa tank farm is destroyed by fire

When an inferno destroyed a new Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL Tank Farm, previously OVH, on Friday in the Kayode Street, Marine Beach, Apapa region of the state, mayhem ensued.

As individuals scrambled to contain the fire outbreak before the rescue squad came, a witness named Mr. Tunde Are reported seeing the blazing inferno at around 11 am.

At 1:00 pm, the rescue squad, under the direction of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority (LASEMA), was working to contain the blazing fire.
It was discovered that a petroleum product spill inside the terminal’s perimeter was the cause of the fire.

Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the regrettable event and stated that a coordinated effort was underway to contain the situation with multiple emergency responders from the oil and gas sector.

“The public are hereby assured that the emergency operation is under control from escalating further,” Adeseye stated.
