Former US president, Donald Trump says he has “five hundred million dollars in cash.”

Former US president Donald Trump claims he has 'five hundred million dollars in cash

President Donald Trump declared he had half a billion dollars in cash during a string of outbursts on Truth Social.

Trump further implied that Judge Engoron and Attorney General Letitia James of New York decided to impose the hefty fine to prevent him from seeking the presidency.

The outburst occurred hours after it was made public that James had initiated the initial steps to seize Westchester properties, and after his attorneys had requested a stay of the judgment or a reduction in its amount, citing their incapacity to secure underwriting.

On March 6, the Attorney General officially recorded judgments in Westchester County, where Trump owns the two properties that are located slightly north of Manhattan.

The judgments were filed against Trump, the Trump Organization, and his two adult sons, Don Jr. and Eric, according to the county clerk’s online database.

If Trump doesn’t pay the fine by Monday, his accounts might be frozen and the procedure to seize his assets might start. Trump’s highly valued Manhattan properties, including Trump Tower and his interest in the Art Deco skyscraper at 40 Wall Street, maybe in jeopardy.

Trump wrote in an all-caps message on Friday morning:

I currently have almost five hundred million dollars in cash, a substantial amount that I intended to during my presidential campaign. This has been achieved through hard work, talent, and luck.

“I accomplished everything I set out to do, including winning an unexpected election in 2016, performing even better in 2020, and taking the lead significantly in 2024.”This is American Communism!

Trump’s attorney Christopher Kise implied in a text message that the president was discussing his business wealth.

Kise stated, “What he’s talking about is the money that he’s built up through years of owning and managing successful businesses around the world.” “The Democrats and Letitia James are aiming for that exact amount of money.”
However, a few legal experts asserted that Trump’s comments might undermine the case made by his attorneys.

Syracuse University law professor Gregory Germain claimed that the post casts doubt on both his credibility and the credibility of his witnesses, who stated that he lacks the necessary funds.

“He feels hurt when he says, ‘I have the money, I just don’t want to post it,'” Germain claimed. “It’s just really hard to understand why he would take such an action.”

In addition, Trump’s assertion coincides with the fact that in comparison to President Biden, the former president is significantly underfunded for his presidential campaign. In contrast to Trump’s $33.5 million at the end of February, Biden’s campaign reported having $71 million in cash on hand for his primary campaign committee on Wednesday night, when Federal Election Commission filings were due. The political action committee Save America PAC, which the Trump campaign has been using to cover the costs of the former president’s and many of his associates’ legal representation, spent more money in February than it brought in.

Files reveal that at the end of February, Save America PAC had $4 million in cash on hand. During that same time frame, the organization spent roughly $7 million, of which $5.6 million was paid to attorneys. Trump hasn’t given his campaign any of his funds.

Nonetheless, Trump might benefit monetarily after shareholders approved his media company’s IPO on Friday. With that action, Trump might acquire a stake valued at billions of dollars, which he could utilize to cover his legal expenses. At the current share price of DigitalWorld, the company is valued at approximately $3.3 billion, of which Trump will own approximately 60%.

Trump maintained his criticism of James in his post, presenting himself as the victim of a weaponized legal system—a narrative he regularly repeats in campaign rallies and has exploited to raise money.

He posted it again in all caps, saying, “I did nothing wrong except win an election in 2016 that I wasn’t expected to win, did even better in 2020, and now lead, by a lot, in 2024.”
