7 Claimed rail track vandals were suspended by the NSCDC in Plateau State

Seven suspects have been detained by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Plateau Command for allegedly damaging slippers and railroad tracks in the state.

The suspects were paraded in Jos by Alexander Barunde, the state’s Commandant of the Corps, who stated that his men had taken them into custody at the Kwakwi community in the Riyom Local Government Area of the state.

He clarified that an intelligence report from certain community members preceded the arrest.

According to Barunde, among the materials and sixty railway track pieces found from the alleged vandals are thirty slippers and other items.

The suspects packed the goods into two trucks and drove off to an address that was not disclosed.

He stated.”My men captured them and brought them to this location for questioning. As soon as the investigations are finished, the suspects will face charges in court.

Ahmed Mohammed, one of the suspects, claimed they were just hired to transport the items and denied knowing they had been vandalized.

This is happening at the same time that the state government has finalized plans to revive rail mass transit in the cities of Jos and Bukuru, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
